A typical treatment day

I am giving below the treatments I did today on three of my patients.  I think they are a good representation of the kind of treatments I do.  And I hope everybody reading this will note how simple they are and, I think if you were to ask my patients, how effective.  Another one of my mantras is “the simpler the better and the fewer points the better”.  In this way we do not overwhelm the elements with confusing signals, but, like the magic bullets Western medicine is always desperately seeking for its drugs, we direct a concentrated amount of treatment straight at the guardian element.  That is why we should always consider command points to form the heart of all our treatments, not, as some practitioners tend to think of them, as a kind of add-on after apparently more complex points.

Two patients were Fire (Inner Fire) and one was Metal.

I find it interesting that it is often my Metal and Inner Fire patients who are most aware of the value of their treatments;  each of these are able to sort and evaluate properly in their differing ways.  They recognise the need for regular treatments and know when they need a treatment, but like to space their treatments differently.  Patients 1 and 3 like to come on average once every 2 months, whilst Patient 3 only gets in touch when she feels she needs to.

Patient 25: Treatment: Fire (Inner Fire)

Patient:  Male, age 30

Element:  Fire (Inner Fire) 

Number of years coming for treatment:  First treatment with me, referral from another practitioner

Number of prior treatments with previous practitioner: 3 years’ treatment on Outer Fire.

Main problem today:   Reason for referral is because he feels that his treatment so far has not really helped him as much as he would like.  There have been times when he has felt better, and others when he feels that treatment is doing nothing for him.  I agreed with the diagnosis of Fire, but thought he was Inner Fire.  This was because he seemed to be sorting out his answers carefully, and often hesitated in the way he answered.  He also had the yang quality of Fire which I recognise as being one of the characteristics of the Small Intestine, a tough aspect of Fire, as opposed to the more vulnerable aspect of Outer Fire.

Treatment given:  

1        Check AE:  quite a lot of AE on Heart Protector and Heart, particularly on Heart on the left.

2        SI 4, Ht 7

At the end of treatment:   Patient felt easier to me, as though a little bit of weight had lifted.

Time of next treatment:  Because patient lives in the North of England, treatment will have to be when next in London, probably in 3 weeks.

Proposals for next treatment:   See whether patient has experienced any changes, and decide upon treatment in the light of changes.

Final note:  Patient phoned me two days after treatment to say that he had noticed a profound change.  Various problems which had clouded his life seemed suddenly to have lifted and become unimportant.  He is surprised at the difference in his approach to his life.  I would see this as his sorter, the Small Intestine, at last sorting properly. 

Patient 22: Treatment (?Fire) (?Inner Fire)

Patient:  Male, age 26

Element:  ? Fire (?Inner Fire)

Number of years coming for treatment:  New patient – treatment 1

Number of prior treatments:  None

Problems today:   Had abdominal surgery two months ago, stomach still swollen and painful, very tired indeed, sleeplessness, lack of ability to concentrate.  His colour was very greyish-white, and his voice totally lacked energy.

Treatment given:   

1                    AE drain, to my surprise no AE

2                    TH 4, HP 7

3                    Husband/Wife:  Bl 67, Ki 7, Ki 3, Li 4, SI 4, Ht 7

4                    CV 14 (could not do CV 8 because of surgical scar) (we tend to start with CV 8 and then move on to the more powerful point CV 14 later on)

5                    TH 4, HP 7

At the end of treatment:   I think he may be Inner Fire, but since I am not even sure that he is Fire, I will just start with Outer Fire, for at least this treatment and possibly one or two more, depending on how sure I begin to feel that it is not Outer Fire.  He still looked very tired, but he made better eye contact, and managed to smile as he left.  It is too early days to be sure of the element, but he seemed to have difficult sorting his words out, which made me think more of Inner Fire.

Time of next treatment:  He has to go to another practitioner for the next few months as he will be away at college.  I have told him he needs to phone the other practitioner immediately for an appointment, as he needs another treatment in the next week.  He was keen to do this.

Proposals for next treatment:  If I was continuing to treat him, I would first check for H/W again, just in case I had not cleared it.  Then I would definitely like to start the treatment with Ki 24 (Spirit Burial Ground).  He is a prime candidate for this, as he is very low in spirit, almost as if his spirit is indeed buried.   I would then think of Bl 38 (43) to try and bring some warmth to his blood and thus to his Fire element.  I would finish on tonification points, if I find there is enough in Wood to pass on to its child, Fire.

Patient 16: Treatment (Fire) (Inner Fire)

Patient:  Female, age 50

Element:  Fire (Inner Fire)

Number of years coming for treatment:  6 years

Number of prior treatments: At the moment comes every month as she is undergoing many major changes in her work life.

Original problems:  These are so far back that they are now irrelevant, but the original cause for her wanting treatment was a sore back as a result of a fall which bruised her coccyx badly.  Felt the benefit from treatment was so great in many areas of her life that has continued on a regular basis since then.  Particularly pleased that she has been able to work out a good relationship with her family, which had previously been very fraught.

Change since start of treatment:  Very much more able to work out her priorities, particularly in how she approaches her work.  Is in a very senior position, with many responsibilities, and being Inner Fire thinks she has to sort out everything for everybody else.  Is now much better at seeing when she needs to rein herself in. and leave others to do their own sorting.

Problems today:  A very nasty cough and painful chest, many real problems relating to changes at work as a result of financial cut-backs.  As usual when she is in need of treatment arrives flustered and over-excited, talking her way into the practice room almost before I greet her, a sign that her Fire element is in overload.

 

Treatment given:

1                    Co-St block (Co 20, St 1) (Blocked Metal, as shown by the excess energy in the Colon pulse, which probably explains the cough and chest pain)

2                    SI 17 (Window of the Sky)  (SI loves the Windows, and both SI 16 and SI 17 – but not at the same time – give a great deal of relief in helping the sorting mechanism see clearly what needs to be done.  I see SI 17 as slightly stronger than SI 16, since it is the point further along the SI, and therefore will benefit from the action of SI 16 before it)

3                    SI 3, Ht 9

At the end of treatment:  Her colour changed to a healthier pink immediately after the Co-St block was cleared.  She said her chest felt better.  She always loves coming for treatment, because she tells me she knows that she will feel better even before she gets up from the couch.  She was calmer, and moved less jerkily as she left. 

Time of next treatment:  She will have another treatment in about 2 weeks to reinforce today’s treatment.
